Google Ads

What are your thoughts on the Google Ads that appear on PowerToTheBuilder.com. Do they get in the way? Do they lower the perception of the sites quality?

Currently, the only real source of revenue for PowerToTheBuilder.com comes from the Google Ads. This revenue helps pay for things like webspace, domain registration...and maybe a little bit of my time for support (5 cents an hour ;) ). Unfortunately this revenue stream is quite low almost to the point where it seems that the Google Ads are just clutter on the site.

One interesting thing to note is that the Donation button on the download page has never been clicked in the 1 year that the site has been active. Not that it should be, I'm just saying.

So, this leads me to my next question. If the UI controls from PowerToTheBuilder.com where to have a licensing cost, what should that cost be? I will most likely not go that route but I would just be curious to know.

Hi Brad,
Personally I do not mind those adverts being displayed.
Probably most of people using your code realize keeping a web site is not exactly free.
In regards of cost of licenses - it's hard to estimate but 100-150 full package (all PB versions)?
We all apreciate those are free, though -
Best Regards

Just to clarify, I wouldn't charge people for the controls. The PowerBuilder community is pretty small and I want to support it the best I can. Having free add-on's like this really helps. I was just curious to know what something like this would be worth.

As for the Google ads. I just wonder if the clutter they cause is worth the nominal amount of money the site gets from it.
