I just started adding support for Oracle database connections in CrazySQuirreL. So far it seems to be going quite well. I've got the Criteria Query and Graphic Query window done. I'm currently working on the Object Browser. Once I get the object browser done I should have all the pieces in place to get the DDL list windows done. Once I get the DDL extracts working I can implement what ever I need for the Database search feature. This will leave me with one last important piece of the puzzle; the SQL Query window.
I have an idea as to how I'm going to execute ad-hoc queries. I'm just hoping that the idea pans out and everything works as expected.
Supporting Oracle is a big step for CrazySQuirreL. Once this is done it will support ASE, SQL Anywhere, SQL Server and Oracle. This should cover a very large percentage of the market.
I hope to get everything done within a few short weeks.
