Would you do it...

If someone offered, on a per contract basis, to make your applications look up-to-date would you go for it. Lets consider this an informal survey. I'm wondering if this would make for a successful business. How many people out there would rather pay someone to modify their applications UI? Remember that the UI, in commercial applications, give customers their first impressions of the software they are evaluating. The fact of the matter is that an old looking UI really has a negative impact an applications ability to sell.

I'm going to prepare some sort of business plan this weekend to see if this could be a viable business. There are a lot of questions. Is the PB community large enough to sustain this? Are there enough applications out there that need a face lift? What are people willing to pay to get that face lift done?

Let me know what you think. Help me fill in the blanks.

I wouldn't doubt that there are lots of applications still running great on PowerBuilder, some of them are huge and well received by customers. But I doubt the availability of good PowerBuilder resources. I totally agree and convinced that it helps a lot to give these apps a face-lift; they need it badly. I voluntarily do this with my app wherever I work.

I know that some companies worry about the developer pool thats out there for PowerBuilder; this directly affects them to plan something big for these projects and the high rates of the consultants they have to pay due to less resources.
It has come to a point that its challenge to convince the management with this sort of proposal. It definitely takes some degree of voluntary time from the existing community, for their continued commitment to PowerBuilder. I believe its the price they have to pay for sticking with this great tool.
