Designer for UI Controls

June 2, 2009 19:39 by bradwery

For the longest time I wanted to create an "IDE" for the UI controls. It would be a tool that you could use to design your controls graphically without having to run your application to see what they will look like. The new designer would generate all the code you would need to setup the look you need.

The sample application that comes with the controls try's to do some of this. It lets you check boxes and select styles. One thing it doesn't give you is code, code you can use to plug directly into your application. Also, it doesn't have options for all the properties for all the controls. this new designer will be a complete solution.

I just started it today. I'm not sure when it will be complete. I think it's going to be a lot of work.

Let me know what you think. Is this a tool you would use?

Brad

Brad, would use AND pay for!

I'm redesigning a fairly large app using your controls (and porting to PB11.5 Win32). Anything to make the job easier! Will showcase that app for you later this year.

I really look forward to seeing what you've produced.

This tool that I'm creating would be free. PowerToTheBuilder.com is all about sharing.

Thanks for the positive comments.

Yes! I second the motion of 'anything to make my job easier' and add 'and be more productive'.

Thanks Brad for your continued support of the PB'rs!

Well, I don't know... Since We do not use the components for our forms, but only for our workspace. It's not like you design such a workspace every now and then... Once designed, it stays this way. But if we would use your tabs for example on our forms, it would be nice to have them designed by a tool...
